Your weekly personality drive is here again!! Today, on the hot seat we have with us a precious pearl from the Ushering Committee. Take a look at what she has to share with you!

Who is behind Miss Esther?

I am in the person of Takyiwaa Esther, born on the 23rd of July 1995, the first of ten children. I hail from Dormaa Ahenkro in the Brong Ahafo Region but I live at Ahodwo in Kumasi. I am a first year student of Geography and Rural Development. Presently I’m in Africa Hall Room 205B. I am very sociable, although I am seen as an introvert I’m quite the opposite.

Share with us your experience in the second cycle institution.

I completed The Salvation Army Senior High in the year 2014 where I read General Arts. Half of my stay in the second cycle institution was spent as a day student. I was elected as the Senior Girls’ Prefect thus I became a boarding student. It was not easy being a head girl, the pressure from both students and teachers was overwhelming, however by the grace of God I managed to pass through.

Miss Esther, kindly tell us about your programme of study.

Geography and Rural Development is quite a difficult program, since it’s a bit advanced compared to the one I had in high school. It’s one course that needs more effort. It being in the Social Science College makes it sounds easy but it’s not.

I didn’t plan on coming to the University. My dream was to be a nurse, I almost got enrolled in the nursing school. My relatives however insisted on acquiring a degree certificate instead of a diploma certificate. KNUST was my plan B so I took the opportunity as it came.

How has life been on campus being in your first year?

Campus life was very difficult in the first semester because I didn’t know anywhere around.  Either I was in my room, church or the lecture hall.

What can you say about the structure of PENSA-KNUST?

One close sibling of mine passed away before I gained admission to KNUST. This left me very lonely, I was in grief in my first semester. The love and the togetherness I felt from the church was great, PENSA KNUST then became a family to me. The executives in the church are doing a very good work.

Amongst all the committees, why Ushering Committee?

As a disappointed nurse, one who had the passion to help humanity, I thought it would be very good to transfer this kind of passion to the church so I  joined the Ushering Committee. Jesus in the Bible was once an usher and that’s a kind that attracts God’s blessing.

What is your take on this year’s theme and focus?

Walking in the will of God: As a Christian, you have to walk in the will of God. A Christian is obliged to do things that will draw other people’s attention to Christ. This you can do by living an exemplary life and by so doing, you’ll be walking in the will of God.

Abounding in good works: As Christians, we need to help those in need, not only on campus but everywhere we find yourselves. One has to express the Christ-like nature in him or her through their actions so that people will testify that one is a Christian by works.

Which part of the Bible really speaks to you?

Act 16:31 which says “believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and he will save you and your household

Who is your favourite Bible character?

Esther, this is because she was very confident and bold.

Which sporting activity do you enjoy? And any additional hobbies?

I enjoy playing football and I like watching people play long tennis. Having a nice time with friends is something I like to do.

What is your vision and mission in life?

Vision: I envision myself to build an orphanage.

Mission: To work hard and persevere by the grace of God

How did you become born again?

I became born again when I was spoken to personally by someone.

Where do you want to see yourself in the next five years?

I would want to be married with wonderful children. I should be reading law by then.

Are you in a relationship?

What’s your motivation in life?

My committee head and my best friend are my motivation in life.

Please do you have any testimony to share with us?

When all hope is lost and you have no one to look up to, just look up to God. If I have been able to make it to KNUST, then he can do anything.

Any advice for the youth?

I will advise that as youth, we should take the things of God very serious. We should do the things of God with all our heart.

What change do you want to see in PENSA- KNUST?

In my opinion the time of Sunday services should be from 7am to 10am.

Your last words and any requests to the church.

The church should encourage the members to be punctual. The church should encourage the members to obey the ushers with regards to the arrangement and organization the people.

Thank you very much for your time. God bless you.
