Midweek Service – “The Evangelistic Life” by Dcn Emmanuel Keku
The minister began by asking certain thought provoking questions. He wanted to find out:
- What was so special about Jesus that caused Zacchaeus had to climb a tree just to see him?
- How did Jesus live His life such that people wished just to see him?
The answer was simple said the minister, Jesus lived an evangelistic life.
He then defined evangelistic living as an unction to live Christ out, talk Him, demonstrate Him everywhere and make disciples. He highlighted the following key words in the definition:
- Unction
The speaker explained that it is only by the enablement of the Holy Spirit that the evangelistic life is made possible.
- Living Christ out
He then pressed on the fact that in every facet of our lives Christ must be present. In our speech, action and inactions. [Galatians 2:20 and 1 Timothy 6:12]
- Talk Him
The speaker admonished the church as Paul did to Timothy to speak or preach Christ in and out of season [1 Timothy 4:2]
- Demonstrate Him
The minister encouraged the church to demonstrate Christ in every way possible whether in our dressing or in our gadgets.
- Make disciples
The minister then stressed on disciple making saying, Jesus left us with that charge. We are therefore required to hold on to this charge and run with it.
The minister then went on to enumerate the following reasons for evangelistic living:
- It is a means to an end.
- It is a means to fulfill God’s agenda for humanity.
The speaker concluded by quoting Hebrews 9:27-28 .He tasked the church to live evangelistically in every way possible way to bring people to Christ.
